Outside of work…

I live with my wife and our four children near Southampton, Hampshire. I love sport and exercise - particularly downhill mountain biking and weightlifting - playing the piano, learning Spanish and adventurous travel and holidays with the family are my hobbies.

In 2007 I started my own digital agency, growing it over 10-years from a one-man band to a successful business, which I then sold.

After selling that business, I worked as a consultant and mentor to over 30 creative, marketing and digital agency owners, helping them accelerate their growth.

In 2021 I developed my lead-generation outreach process in to a fully outsourced service and specialised solely in running lead-gen campaigns for creative, marketing and digital agencies.

The longer story…

In 2007 I had a simple job in digital marketing for an ecommerce retailer…

I’d taught myself basic HTML and could just about build small websites, which I did for the occasional client for an extra few quid on the side of my full time job.

I’d always dreamed of running my own business and, when I unexpectedly lost my full-time job, decided to have a go at turning the web development sideline in to a full-time business.

At that point I’d had no experience running a business or even working in an agency, but somehow I managed to get it off the ground and a year later took on my first employee and moved to a small local office.

This was my “agency business” when I started in 2007: a desk in the corner of my converted garage.

By the end of the 2nd year I had three staff and moved to a larger office.

This was hardly meteoric growth. Two years to build a turnover of just £135k with three staff wasn’t going to win me any fast-growth awards, but I was learning everything about the business from scratch, the hard way!

I was very proud when we moved in to the first proper office in 2009. It was nothing special, but proved a good catalyst for growth.

Eventually I began working with consultants, mentors and coaches to learn about and improve the technicalities of growing a business, all of which began to unlock the secrets to growing the business to the next level.

The second five years were about getting serious: Implementing systems, processes, marketing and new business strategies, recruiting and organising teams, landing larger, better clients, learning from others and building a business that was fit to scale up more seriously.

Then in 2017 the opportunity for me to sell the company arose.

The offer came at a time that was ideal for me to sell and move on to something new. It also gave me the chance to work and gain more experience in the business as part of a larger ‘group’ setup.

What I do now…

When I left my old business after the sale, I began working as a mentor and consultant to other digital, creative and marketing agency owners, helping them with their growth.

Having worked with over 30 such businesses, I found virtually all of them had the same challenge relating to lead-generation outreach - something I had perfected a process for in my old business.

Knowing that, done properly, high quality prospecting can be the lifeblood of an agency’s new business strategy, I decided to start offering it as an outsourced service.

It quickly became extremely popular, so I decided to focus all my efforts on this service, which is what I do now.
